ABSTRACT: The role of early childhood education in social-emotional learning is critical for understanding how early educational experiences enhance children's emotional intelligence and social skills. This study explores how early childhood education programs influence the development of social-emotional learning in young children. The objectives are to (1) assess improvements in children's emotional intelligence, (2) evaluate the integration of social-emotional learning activities in early childhood education curricula, and (3) examine changes in children's social interactions and relationships. A survey design is employed to gather comprehensive data on the role of early childhood education in social-emotional learning. A purposive sample of 130 children  from preschools in Kogi State was used. The case study focuses on a preschool renowned for its social-emotional learning program. Findings revealed significant improvements in children's emotional intelligence, the effectiveness of social-emotional learning activities, and positive changes in children's social interactions and relationships. Recommendations included integrating social-emotional learning activities into early childhood curricula and providing ongoing professional development for educators to support children's social-emotional development.
